MEMORANDUM

Chief Staff Officer.

Referring to the correspondence with the Colo-

nial Government on the subject of the transfer of Gun Club Hill

to the War Department and of the price to be paid for it, the

General Officer Commanding desires that you will inform the

Acting Colonial Secretary that in the view of His Excellency

this is a matter which can only be adjusted by the respective

Secretaries of State. In no case can it be settled locally, as

the local views are divergent.

Accordingly the matter is being referred by the

General Officer Commanding to the Secretary of State for War.
